The days of having oil delivered to your home for energy and heating will soon be done by BioThermic’s truck, delivering wood pellets.
Owner Vince Rutter is excited about a few customers in Thunder Bay, as well as Ontario, with Resolute Forest Products playing a part in supplying.
The truck blows the pellets off into a bin at the home, for storage until needed in a boiler.
Rutter admits while the wood boiler is more money than gas or oil, the fuel itself is cheaper, with payback of the wood boiler in about 4-8 years.
The owner adds wood pellets answer the need for more affordable energy sources, especially in the north which has a vast forest economy.
Three and a half tonnes is almost enough for a whole year.
Rutter says wood pellets are made from waste in wood processing, such as saw dust.
