Virus Scare Does Not Deter Cruise Goers

While the COVID-19 virus is prompting the Trudeau government to suggest people avoid cruise ship travel, about a dozen people from Thunder Bay are going on one in the coming weeks.

Tracey Kotyk is among a group that is travelling during the COVID-19 scare and feels there are enough safeguards in place to help avoid getting the coronavirus. She is confident Celebrity Cruises will do a good job of screening passengers before they board.

“Everybody who boards the ship will have a temperature check. If your temperature reads over a 100 you’re sent to a secondary screening…so nobody can come on the boat that is in ill health,” notes Kotyk.

She says the group is “in good health” also plans to “be smart” and “stay away from the crowds.”

The Thunder Bay resident says the group was given the option of cancelling the cruise but chose not to.

In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
