Virus Outbreak In Part Of Regional Hospital

Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre has declared a COVID-19 outbreak in its 2B Medical Unit.

While the hospital is not indicating how many cases there are, the Ontario government says an outbreak is announced when there are two or more cases among hospital staff or patients, in a specific area, within a 14 day period, where the cases could have reasonably been acquired within the hospital.

The low threshold is to ensure swift measures are put in place to control the virus spread.

The hospital adds as a pre-caution, there won’t be any admissions allowed in this unit, including Essential Care Givers, until it’s deemed safe to do so.

Furthermore, the hospital reminds you it is still open, including the emergency room, and to use it if needed.
