The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry spent the afternoon fighting a grass fire near the Parkdale subdivision.
Firefighting crews and a helicopter were called to the scene.
City fire crews were first to get there but the MNRF was called in to help assist after it became out of control
The blaze was about half a kilometre from the subdivision but no homes were threatened at any time.
It was one of about a dozen grass fires in the city this afternoon.
It includes one in the Main Street bridge area and another bigger on in the Mission Marsh area.
