Frank Pullia says his experience on Thunder Bay city council is one reason why he should be elected the Thunder Bay-Superior North MP in the October election.
The federal candidate says that includes having regular town hall meetings to bring forth issues.
“Gangs and drugs and guns… I think the one I had almost a year ago, there was 75 people that came out, in talking about the social issues of Thunder Bay. The local community, the city of Thunder Bay, needs help from the federal and provincial government.”
The former city councillor acknowledged, in front of about 75 people tonight at the Italian Cultural Hall, a Conservative hasn’t won that riding since the 1930’s.
However, he pointed to more polls showing Canada is going blue.
And, he insists balancing needs versus wants in a financial sense will be front and centre for his campaign.
Pullia says he made sure the party lined up that, something he calls one of his guiding principles.
“You know we need to live within our means, and spend the money wisely. And I have proven that at city hall by going from 3 years of deficit to 4 years of surplus, without cutting any services. It can be done, at the federal level.”
The former mayoral candidate added people keep telling him life is becoming more expensive in this region.
