Vaccine Eligibility To Expand Tuesday

Good news on the COVID-19 vaccine front; as of Tuesday at 8:00 am EST, all Ontarians 18 and over will be eligible to book an appointment to receive their first dose.

Those who are currently 17 but are turning 18 in 2021 are eligible as of Tuesday, though they will only be given the Pfizer vaccine.

The move to expand eligibility is ahead of schedule and is a result of the increased supply of doses from Ottawa. The Province tells us that 2.2 million doses are scheduled to arrive this week alone.

As of May 12th, the Ford Government says that over 50 per-cent of all Ontarians 18 and up have received at least their first dose of vaccine. They add that they are on track to have 65 per-cent of all adults in the province vaccinated by the end of May.

All appointments can be made through the online provincial booking system, over the phone or through your local public health unit.
