Uptick In American Visitors To Thunder Bay

It appears Thunder Bay has had an increase in American visitors this summer.

Tourism Manager Paul Pepe tells us they’ve even seen tourists from areas of the states that don’t typically visit northern Ontario.

“California, Texas, New Jersey, Arizona. I think it has to do with the Canadian dollar, but I also think it has to do with the political climate in the United States. ”

Statistics Canada is reporting an increase in the number of American visitors coming to Ontario by a vehicle this summer.

Pepe notes businesses have also told him they’ve seen an uptick in American credit cards being used at their tills.
