United Way Highlights Unignorable Issues

Poverty, homelessness, hunger and domestic violence are just some of the issues that are unignorable in Thunder Bay.

Members of United Way highlighted these issues at a community breakfast this morning at the Valhalla Inn.

They told the room poverty stats are more than just numbers they are people’s lives.

United Way CEO Albert Brule says this year they are focusing their limited community resources on the most vulnerable.

According to 2016 Census data, more than 16,000 or 13.8% of residents in Thunder Bay live below the “low income measure” poverty line.
