Police Board Working On Perfecting Policies

The Police Services Board is working on crafting policies for their organization to govern how they are to conduct themselves.

Chair Celina Reitberger tells us there really wasn’t anything specific in place in the previous board make up.

“We are to reach out to Indigenous communities; we are to try and develop protocols. If that’s not formalized somewhere and someone comes in who isn’t interested in that, it will fall by the wayside.

The board is looking to work with a policy expert when creating its new guidelines.

Meanwhile, Reitberger tells us they are still waiting for a provincial appointment to their board.

The Police Board Chair stresses she would like to see the vacancy filled shortly since in December they will be saying goodbye to their administrator Tom Lockwood.

The board’s last provincial appointee was removed in the spring of this year.
