Toronto Games Highlight Special Needs Youth

Starting today the Invitational Youth Games begin in Toronto, games designed for special needs youth.

Thunder Bay’s Lori Seguin’s teenage son Mitchell is joining some 2,000 participants from around the world at the games.

Students from Westgate, Hammarskjold, St. Ignatius, St. Patrick’s and Dryden schools are participating.

The Games will host 5 sports; athletics, basketball, bocce, floor hockey, and soccer.

Being so close to the students taking part is a fulfiling experience for Seguin, who tells us ” when you see the excitement, the joy, and the happiness of everyone these children with special needs with the Special Olympics, it’ll definitely move you to a new level, that’s for sure.”

Seguin adds, if you are interested in cheering on the participants the opening ceremonies are being broadcast tonight on TSN.

The three day event wraps up with the medal presentations on Thursday.
