Tender Out For Boulevard Lake Dam Repairs

It’s fingers crossed for Andrew Foulds, as the city is now seeking companies to do the repairs on the Boulevard Lake Dam.

The Current River Councillor indicates he’s hopeful for the repairs, which have been postponed repeatedly since 2013.

He notes he began getting complaints from constituents about its condition during his early years on Council, and recalls that an inspection of the dam proved them right.

“The Boulevard Lake Dam, frankly, parts of it were failing. It is in rough shape and it needs an overhaul. That’s the bottom line. The reason why it’s taken so long is it’s a complicated project.”

The city is accepting bids for the structural repairs up until January 14th.

As of earlier this year, the city got $13.2-million from the feds for the project, with another $19.8-million expected to come from the city’s own budget.
