Teen Charged After School Threatened

A 14-year-old boy is charged after a threat which police say targeted Westgate Collegiate and Vocational Institute.

Police tell us they were alerted to the threat late this morning on a social media site.

It showed a picture of what appeared to be a firearm with a threatening caption.

The person was arrested shortly after, and a hold and secure at the high school and surrounding schools were lifted after being in effect for less than an hour.

Bruce Nugent of the Lakehead Public School Board would not get into the specifics of the threat.

He says, “the threat was serious enough that we did act accordingly as we have in the past.”

The threat comes on the same day as police have added more charges to one of the persons accused in the threats made to Hammarskjold high school earlier this year.
