Thunder Bay police say one of their officers has been suspended with pay, and four others have been assigned to desk duties while an investigation continues into Facebook postings from September 17 and 18th.
Chief JP Levesque says the force has asked the Independent Police Review Director to take over precedings to ensure public confidence and transparency.
They say Constable Robert Steudle has been suspended while comments allegedly made on Facebook about Indigenous people are examined.
The comments were made in response to comments made by NAN Grand Chief Alvin Fiddler regarding actions between Thunder Bay police and Indigenous people. (File Photo)
