There’s a call for a ban on the practice of fracking in Ontario.
That’s where companies use a chemical process to break up underground shale to extract natural gas.
NDP environment critic Peter Tabuns introduced a bill at Queen’s Park to join Quebec, New York state, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick who already have similar bans.
Tabuns says while no such licences have been issued in Ontario, there was a possibility developers might be exploring that possibility.
