Thunder Bay charities have been on the receiving end of $30 million raised by the Ontario Charitable Gaming Association.
Officials say since 1989, Thunder Bay has rasied that much for local charities, something OGCA Spokesperson Richard Schwar says is impressive.
“For northern Ontario, that’s a pretty big deal,” Schwar points out. “The other unique thing about the Thunder Bay gaming centre is it’s the only [charitable] gaming location that’s owned and operated by the charity–usually, it’s a private sector partership.”
A special ceremony marking the fundraising goal took place today at Superior Shores Gaming on Memorial Avenue.
