The Lakehead and Thunder Bay Catholic School Boards won’t be impacted by today’s one day strike by secondary school teachers and support staff.
However, our neighbouring board the Superior-Greenstone District School Board will see its staff take job action.
Another eight boards are impacted but they are in southern Ontario.
Again, locally the Lakehead and Thunder Bay Catholic School Boards are not impacted by Ontario Secondary School Teachers one day strike today.
Thunder Bay-Superior North Liberal MPP Michael Gravelle says he’s supporting educators, students and families in the labour dispute.
“I think the Ford government needs to listen better and understand that indeed the changes that they are proposing to make, the cuts, particularly to education, need to stop or else this kind of action will certainly continue.”
Gravelle notes teachers have a very good and strong case against increased class sizes and mandatory e-learning.
