Dam Work Will Close Boulevard Lake & Trail

There will be no swimming at Boulevard Lake this summer.

City official Mike Vogrig tells us work on the Boulevard Lake Dam will require the lake to be drained, but only for the first year of the two year project.

He says the successful contractor is likely to get started lowering the lake level “sometime around June 20th” since they have to be sensitive to fish spawning times. He is confident enough work will be done on the dam this year to allow swimming in the summer of 2021.

The city engineering expert adds, however, the walking trail around Boulevard Lake will be closed during the two years worth of work.

The city is accepting bids for the project until early February.
