Stray cats in Thunder Bay have a temporary new home.
The Humane Society has offered to take in the felines to allow the City’s Animal Services Centre to focus on providing essential core services during the pandemic.
“This collaboration will allow Animal Services to focus on protecting public safety from dog bites and attacks, picking up of stray sick and injured dogs and cats, and the enforcement of City By-laws,” says Jody Kondrat, Supervisor of Animal Services.
“Animal Shelters can quickly become overwhelmed during a pandemic unless services are limited,” notes Doug Vincent, Manager, Licensing & Enforcement. “Bringing in large numbers of animals would stretch capacity and resources to the point where we could no longer adequately care for the animals.”
Owners can still claim their pets by calling Animal Services at 684-2156.
