City Starts Sanitary Sewer Testing

The city will be testing for leaks in its sanitary sewer system for the next two weeks.

City officials will be working in the north downtown area until next Friday.

They will be forcing artificial smoke into the sanitary sewer system to look for points where stormwater or groundwater could get in.

The city has notified all residents and property owners who will be affected, and are reminding them to run water into all sink, shower, bathtub and floor drains until testing is done.

The smoke shouldn’t enter homes unless there are issues with the plumbing, but they say if you see smoke and don’t know where it came from, call 911 to be safe.
