Standoff Results In Arrests & Charges

Two people are facing charges in connection with an overnight standoff on the city’s south side.

Police say it started around 10:30 pm Tuesday with a break-in at the Simpson Street residence of a woman who confronted the two accused.

That’s when the women told police one of the two people she was arguing with pulled out a firearm and threatened her.

The couple then ran into a residence several blocks down on Simpson between Dease and Pruden which was then surrounded by police.

The incident ended at around 2:30 on Wednesday with the arrest of a 19-year-old Toronto man and a 32-year-old Thunder Bay woman.

Police did not report any injuries.

  • Originally from southern Ontario, Jason found his way here and fell in love with the community and music scene of Thunder Bay over twenty years ago. In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
