MOH Would Like More Resources For Public Health

Ontario’s Medical Officer of Health says they are looking to ramp up the resources at each of the province’s health units.

Dr. David Williams says better communication between the health units will be crucial since further down the road they will be watching for flare-ups of COVID-19.

“Even if we were able to flatten that first wave, there’s a lot of that action that takes place into the spring and summer, to monitor and follow those ones so you don’t see flare-ups,” Williams said.

The Medical Officer of Health says that is very intensive work that requires a lot of staff so they want to be able to provide more resources to them including staff and technology.

Williams was told by media today that numbers shown by the Ontario government on COVID-19 cases differ from those from some of the individual health units.

Ontario’s top doc says they are working on releasing a model of COVID-19 in the province for the public but won’t have something ready until next week.
