Video: Row Of Simpson St. Buildings Gutted

A significant fire in the city overnight.

The blaze has destroyed at least one building at the corner of Simpson Street and Robertson.

The 9-1-1 call was made around quarter to two this morning by one of the tenants in the one-floor apartment building.

Crews were still fighting the inferno a few hours after that.

Fire officials tell us at least two people called the building home and they were able to make it out of the building unharmed.

Spokesperson Kevin Anderson tells us they may not be able to enter the building safely once the blaze is out because it may not be safe to investigate.

At 9:00 am this morning, the fire was still in the walls of the structure, and the roof had started to collapse.

Simpson Street between Roberston and Pacific is closed. Officials expect the road to be closed for most of the day.
