Service Board Wants To Fix Up Low Income Homes

The area’s social services board still has provincial funding set aside this year to help low income people renovate their homes.

Spokesperson Ken Ranta says they have enough to help 25 to 30 people.

“We’re not talking about decorating repairs, or nice to have things. We are talking about leaky roofs, damaged furnaces, leaky windows. Capital repairs that may actually force a family to leave their home if they can’t get them completed.”

The social services board was surprised to have money left over noting typically by this time of the year they’ve already allocated all of it.
