Scam Bilks Thousands From Company

Businesses and their employees are being put on alert by Thunder Bay police.

Police tell us there is a scam that targeted one local business by someone claiming to be a supplier.

The scammer convinced the employee that there was merchandise waiting to be shipped to their business and payment was required.

The employee then complied and the company was defrauded thousands of dollars.

Police say it may be a good idea to discuss the situation with your staff since the fraudsters often know specific details about the business and can be very convincing.
