Camper & Other Structures Destroyed

A garage, a shed-like structure and a Jayco camper were destroyed in a Wednesday afternoon fire.

Platoon Chief John Kaplanis says they don’t want to speculate as to the cause but they’ll be interviewing witnesses that saw the blaze earlier in the afternoon.

“The first truck on the scene when it arrived it found a heavily involved garage fire that had already reached the owner’s RV trailer and another shelter structure. All three structures and the contents inside were destroyed. We had a significant amount of flame to deal with,” Kaplanis says.

Kaplanis says it was a large volume of fire in a small area at the corner of Atlantic Avenue and Athabasca Street.

Five fire trucks were on the scene and a second alarm was called for the blaze.

No injuries were reported. The fire is under investigation.
