Right place, right time… and the right hearts

Today’s story is from Fruitland, Iowa, where two teenage buddies proved heroes don’t always wear capes… sometimes they’re just out for a bike ride.

Gunner Skidmore and Kohen Chick were out for a ride when Kohen spotted something in a yard that didn’t look right. They called out, and heard the words no one wants to hear: “I need help. Call 911.”

Turns out an elderly woman was stranded outside for over 16 hours — no phone, no water, stuck in the heat after falling while feeding her horse. She even rolled herself from the backyard to the front hoping someone would see her.

These 2 boys did.

They called for help, Gunner’s mom rushed in, and emergency crews got the woman to hospital just in time. Doctors say a few more hours and things could’ve ended very differently.

But the kindness didn’t stop there — Gunner’s mom has been checking on the woman’s horse, keeping it fed and watered, and she’s already planning to welcome her home with a homemade lasagna.

Right place, right time… and the right hearts
