Residents can voice concerns about downtown parking in Thunder Bay

Thunder Bay residents are invited to attend a drop-in session to share their experiences with parking downtown.

The goal is to learn about impacts this has had on people who live in the downtown Fort William area, Waterfront District, or Bay and Algoma areas.

Changes were made to parking rates and hours on June 1, which caused push back from the community.

City parking meters were changed to require a $2 minimum spend, which buys one hour of parking. Fifteen and 30-minute rates were not an option at the time but have since been approved by council.

Municipal Parking Services is holding the session on July 3 at the Price Arthur Hotel. It will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Bertrand Room.
