A non-profit organization based just outside of Timmins celebrated a huge achievement.

They’re called QUILTS FOR SURVIVORS.  Last week they made the 8,000th quilt donation to residential school survivors.  They honoured this milestone by inviting community supporters and sharing what they truly do. The group launched in the Summer ’21….and collaborated with a dedicated group of volunteers to create these amazing blankets.  They started with a goal of making about 200 quilts for local First Nations communities.  Vanessa Genier is the founder of Quilts for Survivors and is blown away by not only the growth of the organization, but most importantly, its impact!  Her goal will not stop – and that’s to pair more quilts with people who request them, regardless of where they are.  She’s anticipating the total to hit 10,000 by next year.
