Putting A Cap On Cancer

I don’t think there is a man alive who can fully comprehend what it must be like for a woman to hear from her Doctor she has breast cancer. The other day in my office I got to meet Kim Francis who is currently battling breast cancer. She will be on the show today and she can tell her story far better than I can.
What stuck with me in the brief encounter I had with her was she mentioned when she went to get a second opinion at the encouragement of her medical team here in Thunder Bay the highly respected team in another city told her Thunder Bay got everything right.
Over the years I have been fortunate enough to work with many of the medical professionals in our city and I know we have great health care providers in Thunder Bay. I also know we have many generous people who want to help people like Kim. Today, and for the next four Tuesdays, we will be at Downtown Volkswagen “Putting A Cap On Cancer. Come by the dealership and make a donation of $5.00 and we will put pink caps on the tire valves on your vehicle. It is a small thing. It is a symbolic gesture. But for people like Kim the next time she is driving down Harbour Expressway and stops at a red light and looks over to see pink caps on the vehicle beside her I have a feeling for a brief moment she will know she is not alone.
