Local foodies, vegetarians and vegans are rallying behind the Oliver Road eatery Bonobo’s Foods.
The Vegan Alliance of Thunder Bay as well as Thunder Bay’s Vegan and Vegetarian Association has started a social media campaign asking people to write letters of support for them to the City.
Bonobo’s Manager Morgan Zimmer says they’ve applied to be considered a limited restaurant and not just a take out and grocery corner store.
She says selling groceries and take out isn’t as viable as serving food at tables in their store.
Renovations to the building have already taken place and there is seating available at their location.
Morgan adds she’s overwhelmed by the amount of support they’ve received so far.
City Hall is taking letters for and against the project up until March 10th with Thunder Bay council looking to discuss it in late spring.
