The provincial Liberals are revealing that $70 million was spent setting up the Ontario Retirement Pension Plan.
The Liberals scrapped the plan after agreement was reached to enhance the Canada Pension Plan.
A statement from Finance Minister Charles Sousa says the decision to move ahead with the Ontario’s plan.
He says with the uncertainty about whether CPP enhancement would be achieved, the need to address the retirement savings gap was too important for the government to sit idly by.
