Premier Open To Twinning Highway 17 West Of Dryden

Kenora MP Bob Nault has long stated that the Trans Canada highway between Dryden and the Ontario-Manitoba boundary must be four-laned.

Premier Kathleen Wynne supports the notion but stresses a lot of work remains to make the project a reality.

Wynne notes one hurdle is completing consultations with the government, impacted municipalities and First Nations.

She says as they spend infrastructure dollars as a province, they need to find ways to create local jobs, provide training and promote economic growth.

There is still no reported movement on twinning Highway 17 between Kenora and the boundary, something that was promised by both levels of government several years ago.
