Police Report ‘Record’ RIDE Stats

City police are reporting some ‘record’ high numbers following their Festive Ride program.

They say 26 people were arrested and charged with impaired driving offences.
13 drivers received short term driving suspensions.

Police lament there was a marked increase in violation for novice and young drivers.

While in 2018 there was only one driver testing positive for alcohol or drugs, seven had their driving privileges suspended this time around.

Overall, police say they interacted with about 1,800 drivers since the 2019 program was launched back on November 25th.
