Plan Revealed For Rural Internet Service

The Ford government says it has a $315 million dollar plan to improve Internet and cell phone service to rural and remote communities.

Premier Doug Ford explains his government will “make sure no community is left behind in the 21st century” noting, “12 percent of Ontario communities don’t have access to fast, reliable and affordable Internet, and cell service.”

The plan includes $150 million for a new broadband fund, which will leverage private sector funding and from other levels of government.

The government says five-year plan is expected to draw up to $1 billion in total investments and improve services to 220,000 homes and businesses.
