Hospital Roof Damaged

A piece has come off the roof of the Regional Health Sciences Centre.

Some metal sheeting has come off the hospital building and is laying on the sidewalk next to the main entrance.

That area has been taped off by security officials.

Hospital officials confirm high winds caused a large piece of metal flashing to detach form the roof. Nobody was injured.

As a precautionary measure, the area has been roped off. The West entrance is closed, and the sidewalk between the patient drop off/pick up and the main entrance foyer is blocked off. The main entrance may be accessed under the Renal area canopy.

In addition, road access to the patient drop off/pick up area will be altered until weather conditions improve. A partial road closure is in place for safety. However, people are able to drop off and pick up patients from this area. Security staff is directing traffic accordingly.
