Phone Scam Targeting SIN Cards

Another warning from Thunder Bay police about phone scams.

They say complaints are coming in about criminals calling, identifying themselves as a government agency, and asking for social insurance numbers.

Police add the caller may also give another phone number for the potential victim to call.

They also say if you are concerned you might have an issue with the government, hang up, and call the agency in question after looking up its number from a legitimate source.

Police say they cannot stop these calls, but ask you not to call 911 or the non-emergency line, but contact the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre, by clicking here.

In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
