Phillips Steps Down From Finance Portfolio

The province will have a new finance minister.

Rod Phillips tendered his resignation from the post to Premier Doug Ford after going on a Caribbean vacation during the pandemic.

The Member of Provincial Parliament from Ajax returned to the country Thursday morning from St. Barts despite calls from the province urging people to avoid non-essential travel.

Premier Ford has asked Treasury Board President Peter Bethlenfalvy to assume the role of minister of finance and deliver the government’s 2021 Budget.
