Pets rescued in Van Horne structure fire

Firefighters from Oxdrift and Dryden responded to a structure fire in Van Horne Township alongside EMS, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), and local veterinarians.

Crews arrived around 7 p.m. and quickly brought the fire under control.

Officials say they rescued several pets that were affected by smoke, and one was transported to a nearby vet clinic for further care.

No other injuries were reported, but crews say the home sustained significant damage. They’re now reminding residents to ensure smoke alarms are installed and working properly as response times can save lives.
