The PC government says the need to deal with some time-sensitive issues is the reason for a summer sitting at Queen’s Park.
A strike at Toronto’s York University and the cancellation of the cap and trade program are at the top of the agenda.
Government House Leader Todd Smith says other campaign promises will be discussed at a later date.
“We’re going to keep our promises, we are prepared to act, we will always put the interest of the people first.”
Smith expects the session to last only a couple of weeks.
Meanwhile, a veteran MPP has selected to serve as Speaker of the Ontario Legislature
Ted Arnott beat out fellow PCs Randy Hillier, Jane McKenna and Rick Nicholls on the first ballot for the job.
Arnott has been an MPP since 1990, serving the southern Ontario riding of Wellington—Halton Hills.
