Pandemic Planning For Schools ‘A Work In Progress’

Health officials are working behind to scenes to make sure the return to school in the district is done safely.

Medical Officer of Health Dr. Janet DeMille calls the pandemic planning “a work in progress” with each school having different needs.

“The number of students, the age group of the students, the size of the classrooms…all of that is going to be different in different schools,” says DeMille.

She adds, “There’s a lot of work” happening to make sure the schools have the necessary plans in place.

That would include everything from temperature screening when students enter the school, to physical distancing, to a protocol if any student tests positive for COVID-19

The medical official tells us they are still waiting for clarification from the government on some points of its back to school plan.
