The Ontario Native Women’s Association is using International Women’s day to again plead for a national inquiry into missing and murdered Aboriginal women.
The Harper government doesn’t want to call for such an inquiry, saying now is the time for action on the issue not another study. Association spokesperson Maryanne Matthews disagrees.
She says they want the action to be effective and in order to be effective it has to get to the underlying reasons for the problem and that’s why they want the full blown inquiry.
