The Mayor is contradicting himself on whether or not the city has a commitment from the Winnipeg Jets.
Keith Hobbs maintains the city has confirmed the Jets’ AHL affiliate team will come to Thunder Bay, once the proposed Event Centre is built.
But on the heels of talks the team might relocate to Winnipeg next season, and as the city fast approaches its Event Centre funding deadline, Hobbs says nothing is for sure.
He first says the city has secured a seven-year contract deal with the team, but then says they have to build the Event Centre before the team’s owner commits to Thunder Bay. He adds there’s a U.S. market in the hunt as well.
