Ont. Businesses Support Vaccine Passports

The business community in Ontario is in favour of a national vaccine passport.

The Ontario Chamber of Commerce is sending a letter to the Premier, Prime Minister, and federal and provincial Health Ministers.

It says a centralized proof of immunization system would encourage more Canadians to get vaccinated and let more businesses safely re-open.

The letter says that until a national standard is created, Ontario should look at adopting Manitoba’s system that uses cards or digital QR codes.

President Rocco Rossi says that a federal or provincial approach should avoid making extra barriers for businesses wanting to re-open.

He suggests large event venues could safely re-open by requiring you to scan a vaccination card or QR code to enter.

The group represents 60,000 members across Ontario.
