The Catholic school board says all English schools in its Thunder Bay system will close Wednesday. They will be joining the public school board which is planning on closing all its schools as well.
It is due to the impending one day strike by public high school teachers. Unless there is a last-minute settlement in the contract dispute between the Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federation and the Ford government, all schools will close. The only exception will be the two French Catholic schools in Thunder Bay which will remain open.
The two sides are holding last-ditch talks in an effort to avoid the job action.
Designated early childhood educators, student support workers, attendance counsellors, and adult education classes are also affected by the planned walkout.
