There has been a major breakthrough in teachers contract talks in the province.
The Ontario Catholic School Trustees’ Association says the Provincial government and the Ontario English Catholic Teachers’ Association (OECTA) reached a tentative contract agreement.
Details of the tentative agreement will be shared following ratification.
The Trustee’s Association says “The tentative agreement reflects the commitment of all negotiating parties to the well-being and progress of all students and staff in Catholic schools throughout Ontario.”
OECTA is among the four major teacher’s unions in the province to be hit by rotating one day strikes over the last several months.
They have been holding job action to protest the Ford government cuts to class sizes and online learning, but the province backed down on those cuts last week prior to the start of mediated contract negotations.
