William McCrindle

William Edward McCrindle, age 87, husband, father, grandfather, friend, colleague and gentleman died at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre on Friday, August 29, 2025.

Bill is survived by his wife, Darryl Wheatley McCrindle, his children Lindsay McCrindle Menard (Greg), Scott McCrindle of Fernie, BC, and Lauren McCrindle of Toronto; his grandchildren, Meredith, Ewan and Moira Menard. He is also remembered by his sister-in-law Mary Wheatley and extended family.

He was predeceased by his parents, Edward Wilson and Barbara Warwick McCrindle, of Toronto; brother, Douglas McCrindle of Orillia, ON and brother-in-law Don Wheatley of Shebandowan.

Careers in mining exploration and education made him equally at home in the bush, classroom and boardroom. Bill earned his BASc in geological engineering from the University of Toronto (retired Professional Engineer). His keen interest in the mining markets never wavered, inspiring those who followed in his footsteps.

He will be remembered for his generosity of time, interests and expertise, mentorship, love of sports especially downhill skiing but above all devotion to family and friends – never missing a call or kids’ sporting events.

We will miss him dearly.

An interment will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 8, 2025, at Mountainview Cemetery with Rev. Terry Sawchuk and Bill’s lifelong friend, Deacon Andre Nicol officiating. Online condolences may be expressed at www.sargentandson.com.
