Randy Spring

October 30th, 1959 – July 25th, 2026

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of our Randy Spring (Oct. 30th, 1959- July 25th, 2026). After a long, courageous battle with cancer, Randy passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side.

Randy was born and grew up in Thunder Bay, Ontario. He attended Westmount Public School and Westgate High school. Starting at the young age of 14, Randy worked a variety of jobs before purchasing Exterior Finishing in 1996. He successfully owned and operated the business for 29 years before selling it in 2025.

To Randy the most rewarding part of his success wasn’t the sales, but rather all the people he was able to help along the way. Over nearly three decades, he touched countless lives and was known for his quick wit, generous heart, and willingness to help others along the way. Randy considered himself so lucky because he actually had two families; the one at home and the one at Exterior Finishing. Through his business, he was able to sponsor many youth sports teams and always helped young athletes whenever he could.

One of Randy’s greatest passions was football. He played all through high school and continued his childhood love of the game into adulthood, playing touch football for many years alongside lifelong friends. He was a one-of-a-kind player/coach, continuing to play for 18 years and earning many trophies to show for it.

His greatest joys in life were his family, his lake house and, of course, the Green Bay Packers. For 12 years, Randy and his two good buddies travelled to Lambeau Field to watch their Packers play. Those trips were filled with laughter, unforgettable memories, and new friendships.

Hockey was another passion, largely because his two children loved the game. Randy was present at every one of his kids sporting events and was particularly involved in the hockey world. He coached numerous teams and proudly served on the board of women’s hockey for several years.

Above all else, Randy took his role as a husband and father very seriously. These were Randy’s most important jobs. Up until the very end, he always reminded us all that the most important thing in life is family. He supported his daughter and son in achieving success both in sports and in their education. With his encouragement and guidance, they each went on to build successful businesses of their own. More importantly, he taught them to be kind, hardworking, and compassionate people, shaping not only the adults they became but also the parents they are and will be. Randy had so much love for his two grandchildren as well as for his third grandchild on the way.

Angie was the love of his life. They married in Oma and Opa’s back yard in 1987, surrounded by their closest friends and family. Together they built a beautiful life, raising two wonderful children and accomplishing many of their dreams. One of Randy’s proudest achievements was their lake home. Randy and Angie had always dreamed of living on Lake Superior, and in 2010 that dream came true.

Randy was a pillar of strength. So many people leaned on him, knowing they could always count on his wisdom, steady presence and support. Through his final battle with cancer that strength really shined through. He was unbelievably courageous, determined and brave. True to his nature, he did things “My Way” just like his favourite song and battled hard to give himself as much time as he could so that he could continue taking care of his family.

Thank you to all of the people who helped us through this journey including his incredible care team from Thunder Bay Cancer Centre.

Randy is survived by his loving wife Angie, daughter Jacqueline, (her husband Andrew), son Jory (his wife Tyler), his two grandsons Kewin and Kelton, his brother Ross (Pam); brother Brad (Margaret); his sister Gail (Carl); and his many nieces and nephews, extended family, and dear friends.

He is predeceased by his father David, his mother Shirley, his sisters Kim and Maureen.

Randy’s memory of kindness, generosity, strength and love for his family will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. A service will be held to celebrate his life at a later date.
