Patricia Sharonn (Lawlis) Currie

Patricia Sharonn (Lawlis) Currie, born October 21, 1944, in Kenora, Ontario, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2025, surrounded by love, family and friends.

She was the daughter of Pearl and Irvin Lawlis, and grew up in Kenora, On. In January, 27th of 1968, she married the love of her life, Ken Currie, with whom she shared 47 wonderful years of marriage before his passing on February 16, 2015. They began their married life and family in Kenora, and moved to Thunder Bay in 1979 where they put down their roots and remained in the family home until 2021.

Pat was a devoted mother to Calvin Currie (Brandie) and Jason Currie (Ann), and a proud grandmother to Caly (Brandon Morrison), Shirley Lynn, Jaymie (Austin Blackburn), and Jessie. Her heart was especially full when it came to her great-grandsons: Bryson, Kenneth and Malakai Morrison, and Jaxon Blackburn. One of her final joys was seeing her newest great-grandson, Jaxon, over Facetime shortly before her passing — a moment she cherished deeply.

She lived a life rooted in love, friendship, and tradition. For over 40 years, she bowled with the same dedicated group of ladies — a testament to her loyalty and joyful spirit. Her bond with her older sisters, Evelyn Hughes and Dorothy Kufflick (d. 2020), was unbreakable, and she remained close with them throughout her life. Patricia also had a great love for games, especially cards and Scrabble, and could often be found enjoying a friendly game night filled with laughter and warmth.

A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring of 2026 to honour Patricia’s memory and the many lives she touched.

The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff who provided unwavering support and patient, loving, care at St. Joseph’s Hospital.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the Cancer Research Society, or the Terry Fox Foundation, a cause close to her heart.
