Norma Sundell

It is with great sadness that the family of Norma Sundell, age 94 years, announce her passing on Sunday, Dec 21st, 2025.

Norma was born Jan 4,1931 in Port Arthur. She spent all her years in Current River. Norma met Gus and they were married in 1949 spending the next 59 years together until Gus passed in 2008.

The family quickly grew to six children, one son and five daughters. Norma spent her life raising her family, teaching and nurturing through good times and bad. Norma was a pillar of strength perseverance, integrity, knowledge and above all her family was her life.

In retirement Norma and Gus spent 18 years wintering in Florida and after Gus passed she continued for another 5 years with her daughter Wendy. Over the years Gus and Norma lived in several places, all in Current River with a few short years at the farm in MacKenzie, Lakeshore Dr and Wild Goose Bay. Norma spent the last three years at Chartwell, Arundel. She enjoyed her time there making new friends with her final years being quite comfortable.

Norma was predeceased by her husband, Gus, grandparents, mother and father, Nancy and Albert Bishop, brother Raymond Bishop, two brothers-in law and her sons-in-law.

She is survived by: son, Terry (wife-Kathy), daughters, Wendy Weldon (Rob-deceased), Diane Sundell, Nancy Wiens (Brian-deceased),Joanne Borysiewicz (Stan-deceased), Sandra Franze. Grandchildren-Ron Sundell (wife-Amanda, Madison), Sheila Silver (Kevin), Robbi Weldon (partner-Brigit Knecht, Keegan, Alexander) Chris Kulczyk (wife-Luella, Chloe, Dylan, Lexi), Cory Sundell, Lindsay Thomas (Carter, Danica), Brad Wiens (wife Sonya, Mason), Janet Wiens (partner-David Harriet, Logan, Jackson), Jason Sundell (wife-Justyna, Jordyn, Erik, Kaya), Steven Borysiewicz, (partner-Shae Malcolm), Nick Franze (Stacey), Genevieve Nerino (husband-Mike, Layla, Ava). Also survived by sister, Barbara O’Brien. Various nieces and nephews.

If friends so desire, memorial donations to the Cancer Society Northwest Ontario would be appreciated.

Memorial service to be held in spring 2026.
