Our wonderful mother, Moira Bodak, passed away after a life well lived on January 30, 2026 at the age of 93.
Moira Doreen Work was born in Fort William, the 3rd daughter of Peter and Margaret Work.
Mom met our dad, Bill Bodak in high school. They were married on June 1st, 1955.
We were fortunate to grow up in a home where our parents loved each other dearly. They were devoted to each other and all of us. Our mother loved being a mom. She was full of fun and always up for an adventure. Our home was full of kids, laughter and ongoing shenanigans. She and dad were our biggest fans and greatest supporters.
Moira’s happy place was at her One Island Lake camp. Camp life began with no electricity or running water, a brood of kids and a husband who golfed. Mom made everything out there an adventure. One of her last wishes was to go for a drive to camp. We will celebrate mom as the next Bodak generation grows up at her camp. Mom was an awesome Nana and followed all of her grandchildren’s interests and activities. She was the #1 taxi driver. St. Paul’s United Church was a big part of our parent’s lives. It was here as a young bride she made life long friendships. Mom was an active and devoted member until her health deteriorated.
Moira lives on in the hearts of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Anne Smith (Craig), Bob (Cindy), Marla Poulin (Dale), Brenda Campbell (Don). Grandchildren Allison, Paul, Heather, Kate, Andrew, Christy Campbell, Shayla, Will, Jill Bodak, Alyssa Poulin, Bryce Bodak and 12 great grandchildren.
Mom’s life changed drastically with the death of our father. She taught us by example how to honour and give thanks for the life we had together and keep living. She was a true stoic and woman of strength. Our brother Bill’s catastrophic stroke was devastating and she missed him until her dying day.
Moira was predeceased by her parents, husband, her sisters Lorraine Hillier, Phyllis Dubinsky, and her beloved son Bill.
Our family is forever grateful to mom and son Bill’s Bayshore worker, Caroline, and the staff at Chartwell Arundel. In her final years she was cared for with the utmost dignity and compassion by the amazing team of caregivers on the 4th floor at Pioneer Ridge whom she considered friends. They were there to support her peaceful passing.
Mom was an avid sports fan and supported all of her family’s activities. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to PRO Kids or the charity of your choice.
